I have taken this math question out of our grade 9 math text in a chapter on Linear Relations and Equations.
- A submarine starts at sea level and descends 50 m every 5 min.

I like the colours that you chose. By going in the red-yellow pattern it definitely separates each portion of the question into smaller chunks. I think the benefit of doing asides is that a student could print this out and do their work to the right of each portion of the question.

Hi Steve, nicely done text boxes. You may want to look at increasing the contrast in the red boxes. You could do this by looking for a muted shade of red or using bold for the text.
I think these kinds of text box are handy to be able to produce to highlight key text.
