Hi guys!
My name is Joanne (Jo) Brookes. I am excited about everything in my online teaching and learning journey and am looking forward to dedicating time towards learning all about the interesting technologies and how they are being used.
Alberta born and raised, I have lived on the West Coast of Canada for most of my adult life.
After traveling for a couple of years in Europe and Northern Africa, I settled with my partner in Nelson BC in 2010, where I have been working as a Marketing Manger for Selkirk College (selkirk.ca).
We are headed off on another adventure in August to Dominical Costa Rica, where he will run a restaurant, and I will ‘market’ the restaurant and hotel, while taking my online courses via TRU.
The certificate will be a great addition to my background (BSc, MBA & Masters In Science, Marketing Management) while initiating me into the world of education. My hopes are to secure employment that will work with my love of travel or to work in places that are beautiful to live in, while often elusive on the employment front, while working with others who are excited to learn.
I believe that online education is a great equalizer to help those who can’t take advantage of the traditional model of education. Having never worked as a teacher, I am looking forward to learning from everyone who has, in all their varying capacities.

Hi Joan (Joe) Brooks, interesting to read about your adventures. Incidentally, I also once lived in Europe, namely for several years in Italy. Now I fly to Spain every year. And I always rent a car to drive around Rome.
In general, I think that when traveling, you should stop somewhere to live and understand, maybe this is the place where you are most comfortable.
