To expand upon the Post 1 topic of animated powerpoint slides, the ideas of critical reflection, community, inquiry, and assessment can be addressed by inserting practice questions (also with animation) after each lecture, and encouraging learners/students to participate in online forums by asking questions or starting discussions.

I believe animated powerpoint slides qualify all points of teaching presence: design, facilitation, and direction.  The flow of the material presented must be designed in a logical manner and allow a step-by-step learning approach.

To improve upon the sense of community, perhaps an embedded audio file of lecture can be used in junction with the powerpoint slides to further clarify the ideas, and to make sure students have a reference point to start discussions from.
